Dosage & Directions

How to administer WITHANIA ROOT POWDER (Ashwagandha) to your horse/animal

Dried herbs may be added directly to your horses dampened feed in their dry state. Alternatively, they may be made into an infusion (herbal tea) prior to use and the soak liquid and soaked herbs poured over their feed prior to feeding. By making an infusion prior to feeding, releases more nutrients from the herbs and increases the health benefits and this soak water may be used to dampen feeds. But if time and convenience is an issue then adding the dry herb (except root herbs) directly to feed is fine.

Add to moist food.

10g daily (less for ponies)

DOGS

Small Dogs: 1 pinch
Medium Dogs: 1/4 teaspoon daily
Large Dogs: 1/2 teaspoon daily

Add to moist food once daily.

I use this alongside HerbaNerve for my spooky mare and she is much more relaxed with this combination.

I have taken on a staffy with pretty extreme anxiety. He was on 11/2 prozac per day and still a bit emotionally wobbly, requiring kalma (benzodiazapine) sometimes as well. The ashwagandha powder works unbelievably well in calming him. So far we have reduced his prozac down to 1/2 tablet per day over the last month and will continue to reduce til he's off them altogether, I hope. He hasn't needed any kalma at all and we even had a loud thunderclap overhead last week and he didn't freak. Usually thunder would totally set him off. Fortunately, it didnt continue, so I don't fully know what the future thunderstorms hold but this ashwagandha seems to work as well as the kalma ... so far.
If you have an anxious dog I would highly recommend trying this magic herb. Works better than prozac and possibly as good as kalma. Good luck

I have found the Ashwagandha helps my two reactive and anxious dogs by reducing their stress. I have also found them to be more receptive to redirection and distraction techniques.
