What is Diatomaceous Earth?

Diatomaceous Earth is sometimes referred to as Diatomite which is a powdered fossil plankton or algae found in millions of years old dried up fresh water lakes. Also some times referred to as Fossil Shell Flour.

Many people and animal owners use diatomaceous earth for its natural composition and versatility. It is able to be sprinked lightly through feed, added to juices and waters, used as a part of a natural grooming routine, or incorporated into general home and stable management.

Organic Food grade Diatomaceous Earth has been approved by the FDA as a food product.

Dosage & Directions

 

TO CONSUME THE POWDER

Adults: Start with a teaspoon and work up to two heaped teaspoons, twice daily.

Children 5 to 12 yrs:  1/2 teaspoon twice a day

Children 6mths to 5 yrs:  1/4 teaspoon twice a day

Mix thoroughly in half a cup of water. Drink immediately and follow with another cup of water. Take on an empty stomach preferably.  Can be mixed with juices, yoghurt etc, if preferred.

If constipation occurs – consider taking extra magnesium or half a teaspoon of Epsom salts in a glass of water.

WARNING:  Allow at least one hour before or after medications or supplements. Do not cook our Diatomaceous Earth as this can cause it to crystalize and thus become toxic to consume.

Initially, you MAY experience a Herxhemier reaction, which can cause abdominal discomfort and flu-like symptoms. This is a normal response to DE and the symptoms should disappear after a few days.

Should this be a concern, you should then reduce your dose to half a teaspoon twice a day and then slowly increase over a few weeks.

CAUTION – avoid contact with eyes and avoid breathing in fine dust particles.
