how to take a hair sample
Proper hair sample collection is extremely important. Please ensure you follow the guidelines as outlined below.
The sample must be collected from the head. The portion of hair to be collected should be freshly washed with plain shampoo (NO medicated shampoo), well rinsed and untreated.
If your hair has been chemically treated, wait until sufficient new virgin growth has emerged to allow collection. The hair should be free of all gels, oils and hair creams prior to sample collection.
Your sample should be collected in small portions from at least four to five different locations on the scalp. The length of the hair should not exceed 3-4cm. The portion closest to the root should be submitted for testing. High gradde stainless steel scissors or thinning shears should be used to cut the hair as close to the scalp as possible.
The weight requested for a hair specimen is 0.125 grams.
Place the hair sample immediately into a sealable paper envelope to avoid potential contaminants such as plastic.
