Dosage

Horses:  10g daily (less for ponies)

Dogs: 1/4 to 1 teaspoon twice daily

 

How to administer Milk Thistle (St Mary’s Thistle) to your horse/animal

Dried herbs may be added directly to your horses dampened feed in their dry state. Alternatively, they may be made into an infusion (herbal tea) prior to use and the soak liquid and soaked herbs poured over their feed prior to feeding. By making an infusion prior to feeding, releases more nutrients from the herbs and increases the health benefits and this soak water may be used to dampen feeds. But if time and convenience is an issue then adding the dry herb (except root herbs) directly to feed is fine.

Root herbs are best softened by adding boiling water and allow to cool before adding the liquid and softened herb to feed.

    I have been using this product for about three months or more. As my horse had a problem with his penis area. The sack around it was slightly swollen. My sister had noticed him eating thistle in the paddock when he could find it. And when he did the swelling would go down. So I decided to buy some Milk Thistle after reading up about it and he no longer has any problem. I give him a scoop every day in his food at night.

    My golden retriever Liver ALP count was 4885 (should be 150). Since using milk thistle along with her vet prescribed medication, her ALP count is now 2200. Still a way to go, but we are getting there.
