Chronic Scouring Resolved

Scour Testimonial

My Quarter Horse gelding has scoured for most of his life and no change of diet, Vet, Nutritionist or Herbalist has helped. Most foods and all supplements upset his gut and it has been a nightmare to work out exactly what the problem has been over the past 7 years.

When he scoured, his behaviour got progressively worse and he became explosive, grumpy, unpredictable and could be quite dangerous to be around. When he wasn’t scouring he was awesome.

I read Jenny Paterson’s book ‘The Key To Calm, Healthy Horses’ and realized it may be the rye grass he grazed that was causing his problem, plus he had displayed almost every negative behaviour, had a magnesium and calcium imbalance, was insulin resistant and had a general mineral and vitamin shortage, as he could not tolerate anything except hay and chaff.

So I took him off his rye grass paddock, put him in a 1/2 acre predominately clover paddock (NOT IDEAL but is seems to be working at the moment), gave him Speedi-Beet, started soaking his oaten hay and put him on Alleviate and incredibly, within 36 hours the change in him was mind blowing, as he became really calm and his scouring stopped.

I knew I was on to something life-changing for him, so I ordered Alleviate SOS and Supreme Horse Min Vit powder. As it turns out, these are the first supplements he has ever been able to tolerate and he has not looked back. He also can be a wind-sucker but he only did this when his gut is playing up and he starts scouring. As soon as his gut settles and he stops scouring the wind-sucking completely stops. He would do it to try and relieve the discomfort he was feeling. I firmly believe that wind-sucking is not just a behavioural problem as so many people think but that it is directly linked to a gut problem. You stop one and you stop the other.

He is now an absolute, gentleman to be around and has had no scouring at all. As you can imagine, I am so excited to finally have worked out my boy’s problem, as 7 years has been a long, long time. Everyone comments on the change in him. You only have to look at the kind soft eye he now permanently has which speaks for itself.”

THANK YOU SO MUCH to Jenny Paterson and Calm healthy horses plan
