Description

Greenpet Equine Herbs – Devils Claw Root (Harpagophytum Procumbens) is a pure human-grade equine dried herb.  Dosage is provided for horses.

Our equine herbs are also suitable for other species such as cows, sheep, goats, alpacas and pigs.

Our herbs are sourced from reputable human-grade suppliers from around Australia and overseas. We select organic or spray-free wherever possible and ensure they meet our strict quality control.

Most horses enjoy the taste of herbs when added to their feed as they would naturally seek out various herbs in the wild depending on their needs.

How to administer Devils Claw Root dried herbs to your horse/animal

Dried herbs may be added directly to your horse’s dampened feed in their dry state. Alternatively, they may be made into an infusion (herbal tea) prior to use and the soak liquid and soaked herbs poured over their feed prior to feeding.

By making an infusion prior to feeding, releases more nutrients from the herbs and increases the health benefits and this soak water may be used to dampen feeds. But if time and convenience is an issue then adding the dry herb (except root herbs) directly to feed is fine.

Root herbs are best softened by adding boiling water and allow to cool before adding the liquid and softened herb to feed.

Best avoided during pregnancy

I’ve been using Devil’s claw on my elderly quarter horse mare for approx. 12mths. I find that it is a good alternative to bute. I’m using it in conjunction with Tuffrock products. My mare has a very severe old injury to her fetlock joint plus strained suspensory ligaments in her other leg. I recomend this product to anyone who has a horse with an old injury, for pain and inflamation relief.

My 33 year old horse was in full work- ridden 6 days a week until I decided to retire him at 30 while he was still sound. About a year ago I started him on Devil’s Claw to alleviate any stiffness and keep him comfortable. It has worked a treat and it goes in his feed along with his other herbs.Amos is going great guns and I am so happy that I didn’t have to consider Bute. I would highly recommend Devil’s Claw to anyone for their horses for pain relief/ inflammation due to injury, arthritis or their golden oldies.

We keep Devils claw as part of our first aid kit for when the horses are sore after treatment or work or for those unexpected horsecapades!

I have previously written a review on this product and was impressed then but it is now 18 months later and I’m so incredibly amazed, my fella has gone from full time bute for the rest of his life and little movement from constant pain to devils claw with little pain and YES!!! he is actually now galloping with the other horses, never ever thought I would see that again, he will always limp a little from his ringbone but if your horse is struggling with any sort of pain then honestly you must give this a try, give it some time and see the amazing results, he is absolutely a better, happier fella, and so am I and a bonus ITS ALL NATURAL!!!
