“Supreme” recovery after floods

17 January, 2023

“Supreme” recovery after floods I bought the Calm Healthy Horses Supreme MVA supplement from Greenpet a month ago. Straight away my horses were happy to eat their feed with the supplements mixed in, and some water. These horses have had a rough year, we went through 3 major floods and the horses all suffered low grade to more serious grade laminitis, as well as some mud fever, rain scald and abscesses. Also, after I tried giving them some other supplements, my oldest gelding suffered vitiligo – the loss of colour around his muzzle and eyes, showing as pink patches. It…

Arthritis relief for Horse

8 September, 2015

Arthritis relief for Horse My 16 yr old horse has arthritis in both hocks and a tendency to put his back out a lot. I was told to retire him to trail riding duties as his working life was apparently over, he only dose prelim novice dressage, I wasn’t going to subject him to needles in the hocks or expensive medicines that MIGHT work. I purchased supplements recommended by you & have been using them for 4 weeks and the change in my horse’s movement and attitude towards his work is unreal. He actually uses his hocks now the stiffness is basically…

Belle’s Ross River Virus Recovery

8 September, 2015

Belle’s Ross River Virus Recovery In March 2009 our mare became very ill, legs swollen and stiff, and she could barely walk. She was diagnosed by blood test to have Ross River Virus … a bad case of it. Our vet said her recovery would likely be 18 months. I contacted Greenpet on the advice of a friend, we had an on-line consultation and placed an order. While we were waiting for the tonic and supplements to arrive, Belle worsened, and at one point my husband and I talked about euthanising her she was so bad. She developed Stress Founder, and…

Big Head disease recovery

30 September, 2015

Nutritional Secondary Hyperparathyroidism Recovery In December 2010 my horse was diagnosed with signs of big head disease. The swellings on each side of her head were extremely large and appeared over a matter of weeks. She was reluctant to go forward and spent hours each day standing around with an extremely depressed look in her eye. Her coat was dull. When she was ridden it was almost impossible to get her to canter and when she did she had very short, choppy strides. Apart from the facial swellings the other signs I mentioned appeared twelve months before she was diagnosed,…

Chronic Scouring Resolved

8 September, 2015

Scour Testimonial My Quarter Horse gelding has scoured for most of his life and no change of diet, Vet, Nutritionist or Herbalist has helped. Most foods and all supplements upset his gut and it has been a nightmare to work out exactly what the problem has been over the past 7 years. When he scoured, his behaviour got progressively worse and he became explosive, grumpy, unpredictable and could be quite dangerous to be around. When he wasn’t scouring he was awesome. I read Jenny Paterson’s book ‘The Key To Calm, Healthy Horses’ and realized it may be the rye grass he grazed that…

Dangerous Horse Now Calm

8 September, 2015

Dangerous Horse Now Calm This is a picture taken on Tue 12th May 2009 of 63 year old Ian Fergusson and his 10 yr old half Irish gelding. Up until about 6 weeks ago Monkey was one of those horses people categorise as ‘down-right dangerous’!! ‘Ferg’, well known in North Canterbury (NZ) has ridden all his life and was master of the Brackenfield Hunt for about 10 years. He acquired ‘Monkey’ as an ‘unbroken’ 4 year old with the idea of breaking him in and using him for general farm work, hunting and the odd show. Ferg thought Monkey had…

Darcy’s Eye – 24 hours!

7 September, 2015

Image taken 3 June 2011, of ‘Darcy’s’ left eye. I came out to find my horse’s eye fully closed, unable to open it with swelling on upper lid. I bathed it with Greenpet Herbal Eye Wash and sprayed Greenpet Oxyeze Skin Spray. Later that day, I repeated this bathing and his eye was open slightly so I could then spray the Oxyeze into his eye, (from a distance) to get a fine mist into the eye. The next morning I repeated this as his eye was almost fully open with only a slight discharge in the corner. By the end of the next…

Equimin Horse & Livestock Supplement

18 March, 2021

Love the Equimin supplement! For my first order I bought a 1.5kg bag to see if I could see any difference in my young gelding. He already looked pretty good & in good health, but there was a notable change in his coat & his temperament. He was glowing inside & out, calmer & appears much happier. I ran out of my first bag before my 2nd order arrived & he became grumpy around feed time again, not so relaxed & calm. Within 3 days of feeding the supplement he’s back to a happy, calm & relaxed horse. Equimin supplement…

Equine Lethargy Mystery Solved!

24 September, 2015

One day I noticed my horse had suddenly become very stiff, and was dragging his front legs and appeared quite lethargic. I knew something was wrong as he was normally very forward moving and this particular day, he just seemed really tired. I had only had Chief for about 5 or 6 months but he was always energetic. I had noticed he was spooking at things a lot more frequently than he had when I first got him, but didn’t make any connection with this at the time. I took him to our vet who said he was most likely tying-up so we treated…

Flash’s suspected Fractured Pelvis Recovery

24 September, 2015

Our 15 year old stock horse developed what we thought was arthritis around 3 months after we purchased him (he had been fully vet checked prior to purchase and passed with flying colors). He was intermittently lame which would come and go randomly and he would often drag his hind feet when walking and struggled walking down steep hills. Flash was a successful show jumper with his previous owner and we eventually had to retire him from jumping a year later as we didn’t want to put any more strain on his joints and he was struggling to lift his legs high enough to clear…

From a Grim outlook to Grinning!

8 September, 2015

“I am just sending this to say a great big thank you to Greenpet for the wonderful advice and service. (Naturopathic consultation) I turned to natural therapies as a last resort to helping my daughters nine year old Australian Pony. Things were looking very grim. A couple of years ago he received a kick to the stifle from our other horse whilst playing. After consultations with the vets without much help – except for them wanting me to spend lots of money on really expensive tests. Things were going along quite well until he foundered on us in the spring…

Horse Goes Crazy!

8 September, 2015

After losing my pony a few years ago I acquired ‘Dollie’, an Anglo Arab filly. At first she didn’t trust people and was very scatty but with in 6 months she became almost bomb proof in the paddocks and you could do anything with her. In fact, a learner was practicing on her, picking out her feet. She had been saddled and bridled, and she was so good everyone was amazed. ‘Dollie’ was a pleasure to have around right up until we moved her to more permanent grazing. Something sent her CRAZY! It was like someone had put a different…

Lameness, spooky and facial crests

1 August, 2019

Shardy is an 8yr old Purebred Egyptian Arab. His owner, Jen was having no end of trouble. His issues included: Jen had been feeding other ‘oxalate’ products for 2 years with zero results. A very basic feed was recommended (oaten chaff, soaked beet and/or copra, 2 tablespoons salt daily, grassy hay) with XtraCal.au + Supreme Vit & Min. He was also fed GrazeEzy for the spookiness. The pictures show the results after just 3 months on XtraCal.au:

Leg Splints Disappeared

24 September, 2015

Barry was broken-in in March, 2009, at four years of age and quietly worked through the winter, attending some winter clinics. After shedding the winter woollies and going from the ugly duck to a beautiful swan, he was shown three times in August for a promising start with three Champions and one Supreme. Things looked good for his newcomer season. On the 1st of September things started to crash with Barry starting to get a bit scratchy, a subtle lameness that would seem worse on corners and not real evident which leg it was. We decided to put a set…

Natrakelp

8 September, 2015

“My stock horse stallion sliced his front foot and was in a plaster cast for 7 weeks. The Vet said initially it may not heal up enough for proper use of his foot. When the cast was removed, his foot was still good and 5 & 1/2 months later he was galloping about the paddock with no sign of lameness and is back serving mares. The vet was amazed at the healing, & that the results were so good. I fed him NATRAKELP LIQUID SEAWEED 2 x daily of 2 tablespoons each feed then reduced to 1 tablespoon daily after…

Not an allergy after all!

2 December, 2019

This is one of those cases where there was a simple answer to a seemingly complex problem. “Jenny from Calm Healthy Horses saved my beautiful horses life.I honestly can’t thank her enough for what she has done.10 months ago my horse got extremely sick, swollen sheath, his legs, stomach, chest were so swollen skin was hanging. He was lumpy, scabby and all his hair had fallen out, he was so itchy he would run around the paddock after me in hope I would scratch him. He was absolutely miserable my poor boy, it broke my heartI spent thousands of dollars on…

Rainscald & Midge allergy

19 May, 2022

Just giving you an update on Chief’s condition. With all this rain we have been having, he did have a 2nd relapse, but with perseverance we got there, with all his “medicated baths”, scrubbing of skin adhesions and this wonderful Calafea oil, it has been a godsend. Would highly recommend it to anyone that has rain scald, or a grass or midge allergy. Thank you once again for your help. Tracey W.

Sacro-illiac Issues Resolved

17 March, 2021

Zoe’s horse Alfie had Sacro-illiac Issues – he was disuniting……  ‘Alfie’ suddenly began disuniting at the canter, but only on the right lead. He had never done this before, and it had only started in the last couple of weeks. He appears normal at the walk, a little stiff but not too bad at the trot and disunites within the first few strides of canter on the right lead (he is perfectly fine on the left). He warms up out of it after about 20 minutes. He is currently being fed beet as well as oaten chaff etc. In terms…

Sarcoids Testimonial

8 September, 2013

“In April of ’98, a friend gave me some salve…to remove some sarcoids on two of my horses. One on the nostril of one horse, and two on the under side of the barrel on the other horse. The nostril sarcoid was gone in three days, and the two barrel sarcoids were gone in ten days. A year later the horse with the barrel sarcoids developed yet another lesion on the opposite side of his mid line, and again treated it and it was totally gone in a week.”

Sophie’s Story… Laminitis.

28 April, 2023

I swore off ever owning another pony with metabolic issues again after having to put our beloved miniature pony to sleep due to ongoing laminitis complications.  Fast forward six months, and I found myself being the owner of a 19-year-old Australian Pony called Sophie. Sophie is one of those dream ponies that has been there and done that.  She was too good of an opportunity to pass up for my daughter who is learning to ride.  But with all of Sophie’s good qualities, there were also some not so good.  Sophie had been previously locked up in a “Jenny Craig”…

Sore Back and Nipping

24 September, 2015

I bought Duke in early January, 2010. When I went to try him he was a calm, unflappable horse who seemed to take everything in his stride. My mother and I brought him home and put him in a large paddock with lots of feed because he was a little skinny. The first few times I rode him, he was just as good as when I looked at him but he soon deteriorated and every time I caught him, he would try to bite me. One time he even reared up and started lashing out at me with his front…

Spooking and Shying Violently

24 September, 2015

I have been using the whole Calm Healthy Horses Plan for over a year now with amazing results and would like to share the experience. I had searched for the right horse for months and a friend found him in the Eastern States for me and I was assured that he was very quiet and would suit me well. He had come from fairly drought conditions, and he was fine for a short while until my green pasture hit his system. He then became unmanageable for me, both to handle and ride, shying violently and becoming highly reactive to stimuli…

Stiff, Lame and Spooky Horse

8 September, 2015

I fell for my Palomino Quarter Horse on our first ride. He was 14 years old and only 3 months prior to my owning him he had lived in Queensland. He was bred in South East Queensland and was broken in and trained to be a Reiner. His manners were impeccable but he was a very nervous horse and his shying was more like a very, very fast spin. I have owned him for nearly 4 years now and in that time we have had our issues (big time). Most of our troubles have been with his body, joints and…

Summer’s Recovery

Suspected Fractured Pelvis or Sacroiliac Injury

24 September, 2015

Great news! The horse with the suspected fractured pelvis is back to normal! I know a lot of people will bethinking ‘How can this be?’ Actually it is not at all difficult to understand when you realise how much mineral balances have to do with nerve and muscle function. When Susan bought ‘Millie’, a Sir Tristram bred TB in March of 2007 for her daughter Carmel, she was everything she was wanting for her next horse. Calm and quiet, with a fantastic temperament, she had already proven herself as a Show Hunter finishing 6th nationally on the 2006 Circuit. She took to…

Unpredictable, Dangerous Horse Saved

8 September, 2015

We have had Noah ten months. His previous owner had bought him for his wife as a novice rider’s horse. They gave me Noah with great caution as he had bucked, reared and succeeded in getting them off. He refused to float for them. He acted like a monster lived in that float so it took me two hours to load him when I first got him. Now loading was one area he has learnt to master since being with me but other behaviours stuck. Noah has always been a bucker, rearer, overexcited, spooky, tense, bolshy horse with a head…
